A political row erupted in Andhra Pradesh after former YSR Congress Party minister Prasanna Reddy publicly accused TDP legislator Prashanthi Reddy of blackmailing him and of marrying her own husband, who is a sitting TDP member of Parliament. He went on to allege that the MLA might poison him in his sleep, prompting the TDP to condemn the remarks as an affront to a woman legislator. Hours after the comments circulated on 8 July, unidentified assailants ransacked Prasanna Reddy’s residence and vandalised his car in Nellore. The former minister blamed supporters of the Telugu Desam Party for the attack, while TDP leaders denied involvement and demanded an apology for what they called derogatory and baseless statements.
