Indonesia’s Attorney General’s Office has confiscated five luxury vehicles and an unspecified amount of cash in multiple currencies as part of its corruption probe into oil trader Mohammad Riza Chalid. The seized assets include a Toyota Alphard, a Mini Cooper and three Mercedes-Benz sedans discovered without licence plates during searches in Jakarta and Depok. Investigators are working with banks to determine the exact value of the money secured. Chalid is the lone suspect still at large in a sweeping investigation of alleged graft in crude-oil and refinery product procurement at state-owned PT Pertamina from 2018 to 2023, which prosecutors say caused about Rp285 trillion (US$18 billion) in state and economic losses. The AGO is examining additional assets held overseas and intends to enter Chalid on a domestic wanted list while requesting an Interpol red notice to enlist international assistance in his arrest.
