Nadiem Makarim, former Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of Indonesia (2019-2024), has been repeatedly summoned and examined as a witness by the Attorney General's Office (Kejaksaan Agung) in connection with an alleged corruption case involving the procurement of Chromebook laptops. The case concerns a procurement project valued at approximately Rp 9.9 trillion, spanning from 2019 to 2022. Nadiem was first questioned on June 23, 2025, and again on July 15, 2025, with each session lasting several hours. During the investigations, the Attorney General's Office also searched the offices of GoTo, a company linked to Nadiem, although GoTo has denied any involvement with Nadiem since 2019. Additionally, Ibrahim Arief, a consultant to Nadiem, was forcibly summoned by investigators. The Attorney General's Office has designated four suspects in the case, including a former special staff member of Nadiem. Throughout the process, Nadiem has maintained a low profile, providing limited comments and stating that he fulfilled his civic duties by attending the summons. The investigation has also delved into financial trails, including the use of the Rp 9.9 trillion funds and investment links between Google and Gojek, a company associated with Nadiem.
