The Indonesian Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) conducted a sting operation on the night of August 20, 2025, resulting in the arrest of Immanuel Ebenezer, also known as Noel, the Deputy Minister of Manpower. He was apprehended along with 10 others on charges related to extortion involving the issuance of occupational health and safety (K3) certificates for several companies. The KPK seized evidence including cash amounting to Rp 170 million and USD 2,201, as well as luxury vehicles such as a Nissan GT-R R35. Following the arrest, Immanuel Ebenezer was formally named a suspect and detained for 20 days. President Prabowo Subianto expressed regret over the incident but allowed the KPK to proceed with legal processes. Minister Secretary of State Prasetyo Hadi stated that if proven guilty, Immanuel would be removed from his position. Immanuel, who was previously known as a volunteer for former President Joko Widodo, has sought amnesty from President Prabowo. The case has drawn reactions from various political and civil society figures, including Indonesian Corruption Watch, which described the suspect designation as a blow to President Prabowo's administration. The Federation of Indonesian Metal Workers Union expressed surprise at the allegations. Immanuel appeared in KPK custody wearing the commission's orange vest and denied the extortion charges.
