Sheikh Muwafaq Tarif, the spiritual leader of the Druze community in Israel, has condemned Syrian President Sharaa for violations of the ceasefire, accusing his forces of raiding homes and committing atrocities in southern Syria. Tarif reported that thousands have been injured and hundreds killed, citing specific acts including the rape of a 5-year-old girl, women being burned alive while seeking refuge in sacred places, and killings and beheadings. He described these actions as deliberate ethnic violence. Sheikh Tarif has appealed to Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) commanders for assistance to support the Syrian Druze who are defending their hometowns. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that it was Sheikh Tarif who requested Israeli help for the Druze in Syria. Tarif drew a parallel to the Holocaust, emphasizing the urgency of the situation by recalling how Jews cried out for help during their persecution, and now the Druze are facing similar threats and are calling on Israel for aid.
