The U.S. Treasury Department has imposed sanctions on two Iranian companies and four individuals for engaging in malicious cyber activities targeting more than a dozen U.S. government agencies and companies, including the Departments of Treasury and State. These sanctions are part of a broader action that includes the unsealing of an indictment by the Justice Department. The sanctioned entities and individuals are linked to Iran's Revolutionary Guard's Cyber Electronic Command and have been involved in cyber operations such as spear phishing and malware attacks. The FBI and other U.S. partners have also announced charges against these Iranian nationals for their roles in a multi-year cyber campaign.
