Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Japan on 29-30 August for the 15th India-Japan Annual Summit at the invitation of Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba. The two leaders are expected to meet in Tokyo and travel to Miyagi prefecture as part of the programme. Nikkei Asia reports that Ishiba plans to announce a ¥10 trillion ($68 billion) initiative to strengthen business ties with India over the next decade, with priorities that include artificial intelligence and semiconductor manufacturing. The investment pledge is aimed at deepening economic and strategic cooperation between the two Indo-Pacific democracies. Following the Tokyo talks, Modi will proceed to Tianjin on 31 August–1 September to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit. The back-to-back trips underscore New Delhi’s effort to balance partnerships across Asia while advancing its technology and security agenda.
