Kenyan police have arrested eight suspects in connection with the theft of more than 7,354 bags of fertiliser from the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) depot in Maua, Meru County. The looting occurred during protests on June 25, 2025, when crowds overran the depot. Authorities have recovered a substantial portion of the stolen fertiliser and investigations are ongoing. Following the incident, the government has ordered the installation of CCTV cameras in all NCPB warehouses to enhance security and prevent future thefts. The area police commander, Eliakim Silgich, confirmed the arrests and the recovery efforts.
