Kenyan TikTok content creator and businessman Kakan Maiyo was arrested by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) at his Nairobi office on July 9, 2025. He faced allegations of inciting violence against the police and their families through a viral video. Maiyo was held in custody at Muthaiga Police Station for two days before being released on a police cash bail of Ksh 10,000. His lawyer, Phillip Maiyo, has called for the charges to be dropped.
