Naivasha Member of Parliament Jayne Wanjiku Kihara was arrested on July 17, 2025, at her home in Maraigushu by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) after she failed to honor summons related to alleged incitement. The arrest involved a large contingent of armed officers who subsequently transferred her to the DCI headquarters in Nairobi for questioning. Kihara's arrest has been linked to her political association with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. Following a night in police custody, she was presented in Milimani court on charges connected to incitement, specifically related to remarks made at the funeral of Boniface Kariuki. Kihara was released on a personal bond of 50,000 Kenyan shillings.
