Kericho Assembly Opens Second Impeachment Bid Against Governor Mutai
The Kericho County Assembly in Kenya on 15 August began impeachment proceedings against Governor Erick Mutai after a motion was tabled by Sigowet Member of County Assembly Kiprotich Rogony. Security was stepped up around the assembly complex as legislators opened what local media described as a second attempt to remove Mutai from office. Separately in the Philippines, Bohol Governor Erico Aristotle Aumentado said he will seek a motion for reconsideration of the Office of the Ombudsman’s decision recommending graft charges against him and other officials in connection with the controversial Captain’s Peak Resort built near the protected Chocolate Hills.
