Nexon has announced "Woochi the Wayfarer," a single-player action-adventure title rooted in the Korean folk novel The Tale of Jeon Woochi. Players assume the role of Jeon Woochi, a so-called Mage of the Way who confronts injustice and supernatural threats in a re-created Joseon-era Korea populated by creatures from local mythology. The game is in development at Nexon Games’ newly formed LoreVault Studio using Unreal Engine 5. According to a company statement, the team is conducting on-site research at historic Korean locations and collaborating with scholars of traditional literature, music and history to ensure cultural accuracy. Oscar-winning composer Jung Jae-il (Parasite, Squid Game) will score the project. Nexon Games chief executive Park Yong-hyun said Woochi aims to offer “a fresh and unique play experience based on traditional Korean materials while resonating with gamers worldwide.” The publisher did not disclose a release window but confirmed simultaneous launches on PC, PlayStation and Xbox. The title joins a growing slate of big-budget East Asian folklore games, following the international traction of 2024’s "Black Myth: Wukong."
