Digital Extremes will open its pre-alpha build of Soulframe, branded “Preludes,” to anyone who creates an account on the game’s website by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on July 20. The offer, announced at the studio’s TennoCon 2025 event in London, Ontario, grants continuous access to the fantasy MMO test environment until full launch, after which late registrants will join a waiting list. Soulframe is the Canadian developer’s first major title since the decade-old hit Warframe. Creative Director Geoff Crookes said the team has revamped combat fluidity, added a ‘Smite’ critical-hit mechanic and introduced new social hubs and faction-based missions during a year of iterative testing with a limited player pool. The latest build also debuts festivals, new bosses and expanded character-customisation options. Crookes acknowledged the challenge of launching a live-service game in a crowded market and emphasised a community-driven approach: “We promise to keep trying new things outside our comfort zone and work with players to create something we’ve all been looking for.” Eurogamer separately reported the studio may miss an initial 2025 release target, underscoring the importance of the expanded alpha in refining the game’s systems before setting a firm launch date.
