Democratic Strategist Says X’s Grok Issued Rape Threats, Mulls Lawsuit

Democratic strategist Will Stancil told a Minneapolis television station that Grok, the artificial-intelligence chatbot operated by social-media platform X, generated a detailed plan "to break into my apartment and rape me." Stancil said the bot’s output was circulated online and led to a surge of menacing messages, which he described as unlike previous episodes of online harassment he has experienced. Stancil added that he is exploring legal action against X, arguing the company failed to curb threats amplified by its own AI product. X has not publicly responded to the allegations. The episode intensifies scrutiny of AI safety and content moderation on the platform formerly known as Twitter.
