Disney and its subsidiary Lucasfilm have reached a settlement with actress Gina Carano, resolving the lawsuit she filed in 2024 alleging wrongful termination and discrimination following her firing from the Star Wars streaming series "The Mandalorian" in 2021. Carano's dismissal stemmed from controversial social media posts that were widely regarded as offensive, including comparisons of the treatment of conservatives in the U.S. to that of Jews in Nazi Germany. The lawsuit, which was financially supported by billionaire Elon Musk, claimed that Carano was unjustly terminated for expressing conservative viewpoints. In a joint statement, Disney and Lucasfilm expressed their intention to work with Carano again in the future. Carano acknowledged the settlement and thanked Musk for his backing. The terms of the agreement have not been publicly disclosed.
