Bozzuto Management Company has sued Florida Republican congressman Cory Mills in D.C. Superior Court, seeking his eviction from a luxury penthouse near Washington’s Southwest Waterfront. The complaint, filed on 9 July, alleges the lawmaker failed to pay a total of $85,009 in rent between March and July. Mills has leased the unit since June 2023 and is charged $20,833 a month, according to court documents. The filing says the landlord served Mills with a non-payment notice on 22 January demanding $17,361 in arrears and warning of possible legal action. A resident ledger attached to the lawsuit shows repeated late payments and fees dating back to his first weeks in the building. Bozzuto is asking the court to order Mills’ eviction and require him to deposit future rent with the court while the case proceeds. An initial hearing is set for 8 September. Mills, who earns $174,000 as a member of Congress and whose net worth is estimated at about $24 million, said in a social-media post that he has tried to pay but that the property’s online payment links “failed to process.” The management company and its attorneys have not commented publicly on his claim.
