Mexican cyclist Isaac del Toro, aged 21, has made a notable return to competition following his runner-up finish at the Giro d'Italia. He began the 2025 Tour of Austria with a fifth-place finish in the first stage, supported by strong team performance from UAE Team Emirates. Del Toro then won the second stage, a 142.1-kilometer route from Bischofshofen to St. Johann-Alpendor, with a sprint finish, placing him fourth overall. He continued his success by winning the third stage under challenging mountain conditions, moving up to second place in the general classification, just three seconds behind the leader. Del Toro secured his third consecutive stage victory by winning the fourth stage, which propelled him to the overall lead in the Tour of Austria. He maintained his advantage and was crowned the champion after the fifth and final stage of 144.2 kilometers. This victory marks the first time a Mexican cyclist has won the Tour of Austria. Following this achievement, del Toro is set to participate in the second edition of the Clàssica de les Terres de l’Ebre in Catalonia, further establishing his presence in international professional cycling.
