Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has stated that there is no evidence or ongoing investigation in Mexico linking Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro to the Sinaloa drug cartel. This response comes after accusations from the U.S., including a $50 million reward offer for Maduro's capture related to alleged cartel ties. Sheinbaum emphasized that Mexico has not received any proof from the United States to support these claims and requested that if such evidence exists, it should be presented. Maduro has dismissed the allegations as a "conspiracy fascist." Additionally, Sheinbaum addressed other U.S.-Mexico issues, denying the operation of CIA drones on Mexican territory and asserting that while Mexico collaborates with the U.S., it does not subordinate itself. She also clarified that there was never a formal complaint from the U.S. against Pablo Gómez, the former head of Mexico's Financial Intelligence Unit (UIF) and current head of the Presidential Commission for Electoral Reform, regarding money laundering accusations. Sheinbaum praised Gómez's performance during his tenure at the UIF.
