Hamas has sent a delegation led by Khalil al-Hayya to Cairo to engage in ceasefire negotiations concerning the Gaza conflict. This move follows a period of stalled talks. Egyptian sources report intensified efforts involving Egypt, Qatar, and the United States to broker a 60-day truce in Gaza. Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty confirmed ongoing collaboration with Qatar and the US to revive this ceasefire plan, aiming to facilitate hostage releases and allow unrestricted humanitarian aid into Gaza. Despite Israeli reluctance to engage since late July, Egyptian officials continue to hold discussions with Hamas representatives, including meetings with Egypt's General Intelligence head, to overcome disagreements and reach a temporary truce. Hamas has expressed urgency in resuming ceasefire talks and has praised Egypt's efforts to enable aid deliveries and halt hostilities in the region.
