Israel has reinforced its northern frontier with Syria after a series of overnight strikes on Syrian regime targets. IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir ordered extra intelligence-gathering and offensive assets, redeployed forces to the Northern Command and dispatched what Israeli Army Radio described as a “large number of aircraft” toward the Syrian front. During a security assessment at Nafah Base in the Golan Heights on Wednesday, Zamir said the build-up aims to “act decisively to block hostile forces across the border, protect Israeli citizens and prevent harm to the Druze.” He vowed to defend border communities and prevent disturbances along the frontier amid continuing violence inside Syria. The deployment marks the latest escalation on the Israeli-Syrian border, where Israel has repeatedly struck Syrian and Iranian-aligned positions. While the military gave no timetable for the enhanced posture, Zamir indicated the added forces would enable the army to raise the tempo of operations if required.
