Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir stated that Israel's military actions against Iran during the recent 12-day conflict have inflicted a major blow on Iran, which could potentially advance Israel's objectives in the Gaza Strip. During a visit to Gaza, Zamir highlighted that the IDF is nearing operational control of approximately 75% of the Gaza Strip. He reported that more than 100 militants have been neutralized in the past week, and the military has seriously weakened Hamas, creating conditions conducive to advancing a hostage release deal through indirect negotiations. Zamir emphasized that if a hostage deal is not reached soon, the IDF will intensify and expand its offensive against Hamas as much as possible. He also indicated that any ceasefire or hostage release agreement would be implemented according to political directives, with the military prepared to adjust its positions accordingly. The IDF continues to pursue two main objectives: the liberation of hostages and the defeat and dismantling of Hamas.
