The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have issued multiple evacuation orders to residents in various parts of the Gaza Strip amid escalating military operations targeting Hamas. Initial evacuations were ordered for western Khan Younis following rocket attacks launched from the area against Israel. Subsequently, warnings expanded to neighborhoods in Gaza City, including blocks 783 and 784, as the IDF announced plans to strike with "very great force" due to Hamas using civilian areas for military activities. The evacuation zone further extended to northern Gaza areas such as Jabalia and East Zeitoun, with civilians urged to move south toward al-Mawasi, designated as a supposed safe zone despite being targeted in previous strikes. By mid-July, approximately 86% of Gaza was under displacement orders. On July 20 and 21, the IDF issued new evacuation orders for residents in southwestern Deir al-Balah and deployed tanks and military vehicles into the city, marking the first ground incursion there since the conflict began. Airstrikes accompanied the ground assault, with reports of at least eight fatalities. The military operation in Deir al-Balah has raised concerns among families of hostages believed to be held in the area. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) described the forced displacement as a further blow to humanitarian efforts in the war-torn territory.
