Israel’s military on 15 July widened its evacuation orders in the Gaza Strip, instructing all civilians remaining in Gaza City and the adjacent Jabalia refugee camp to move south-west toward Al-Mawasi. The Arabic-language statement by IDF spokesperson Lt. Col. Avichay Adraee warned that the area would be struck with “increased force” as troops advance against Hamas positions. The latest directive follows a series of smaller, block-by-block warnings issued earlier in the month. On 11 July residents of Gaza City’s blocks 783 and 784 were told to leave ahead of strikes targeting what the army called terrorist infrastructure. Five days earlier, on 6 July, evacuation notices covered blocks 107-112 and block 88 in Khan Younis after militants fired rockets at Israel. Taken together, the expanding evacuation map signals a broader ground-and-air campaign that now spans both the northern and southern ends of the coastal enclave. The IDF says Hamas has embedded rocket launchers and command posts in densely populated districts and that the evacuations are intended to limit civilian casualties while the military applies “very great force” against those sites.
