Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in Pakistan on August 2, 2025, for a two-day official visit. He was warmly received in Lahore by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. During his visit, President Pezeshkian paid respects at the Mausoleum of Allama Iqbal before proceeding to Islamabad, where he was welcomed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif with a 21-gun salute and a guard of honor at the Prime Minister's House. The two leaders held one-on-one talks focusing on enhancing bilateral relations, trade, and cooperation. Pakistan and Iran agreed to increase their annual bilateral trade volume to $10 billion, surpassing earlier targets of $8 billion. Several agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) were signed to deepen economic ties and expand cooperation, including discussions on enhancing maritime trade through the Gwadar-Chabahar route. President Pezeshkian expressed that Pakistan is like a second home to Iran and thanked Pakistan for its support against Israeli aggression. The visit concluded with the Iranian president departing Pakistan on August 3, 2025.
