Israeli military forces have conducted a multi-day large-scale operation in the Palestinian village of Al-Mughayyir, located northeast of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank. Over the course of at least four consecutive days, the Israeli army has raided more than 30 homes, arrested at least 14 Palestinians, and engaged in widespread property destruction. This includes the uprooting and bulldozing of thousands of olive trees, with estimates ranging from approximately 3,000 to as many as 8,000–10,000 trees destroyed. Some of the uprooted trees were reported to be over 100 years old. The Israeli military justified the removal of the trees as a security measure due to their proximity to a settler road. The raids also involved theft of cash, jewelry, and vehicles, as well as storming the house of the village mayor. The ongoing operation has extended to other locations in the occupied West Bank, including Balata refugee camp east of Nablus, the town of Al-Zawiya west of Salfit, Sa’ir town north of Hebron, and Hebron city itself. Palestinian residents of Al-Mughayyir have begun replanting the uprooted olive trees amid the continued military presence. These events are part of a broader pattern of Israeli military actions targeting Palestinian communities in the West Bank, including recent attacks in Jenin and Tulkarem.
