Since late June 2025, the Israeli military has reported multiple casualties among its soldiers in the Gaza Strip amid ongoing combat operations. Initial reports from June 24 indicated that at least four Israeli soldiers were killed and 17 others injured, some critically, during an ambush in Khan Yunis in southern Gaza. By June 25, the Israeli army confirmed the deaths of a total of seven soldiers, including one officer, in fighting in southern Gaza. On June 29, an Israeli soldier was killed in combat in northern Gaza, specifically from the Combat Engineering Battalion 601. Subsequent reports in early July detailed further fatalities: a sergeant from the Armored Brigade 82 was killed in northern Gaza, and another soldier died in an operational accident involving a collision of two military engineering vehicles in the same region. The Israeli military also disclosed that since the start of the ground operation in Gaza, 72 soldiers have died in operational incidents, including 31 killed by friendly fire and seven in accidents involving armored military vehicles. On July 4, the army announced the death of Sgt. Asaf Zamir and the serious injury of two other soldiers after being targeted by an anti-tank missile in Khan Yunis, southern Gaza. The ongoing clashes in both northern and southern Gaza continue to result in casualties for the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF).
