Suleiman Al Obaid, widely regarded as the best Palestinian footballer and often referred to as the "Pelé of Palestinian football," was killed during an Israeli military attack in Gaza. His death has drawn attention amid ongoing conflict in the region. Concurrently, dozens gathered in Umm al-Kheir in the West Bank to mourn Palestinian activist Awdah Hathaleen, whose body was returned by Israeli authorities after weeks of being withheld. Hathaleen, a school teacher and peace activist featured in the Oscar-winning documentary "No Other Land," was buried following delays caused by Israeli restrictions. In response to these events, protests have taken place in Toronto, including a demonstration outside the Israeli consulate under the banner "Jews Say No to Genocide." Protesters have also organized phone campaigns to Canadian Immigration Minister Lena Diab, urging action on delays in the Temporary Residency Visa Program for Gazans. The protests have seen repeated participation from activists and have included vigils honoring Hathaleen worldwide.
