UN Rapporteur Calls Gaza Humanitarian Foundation an “Apocalyptic” Death Trap

A United Nations Special Rapporteur on human rights in the Palestinian territories warned on 3 July that conditions in the Gaza Strip have become “apocalyptic,” saying the enclave has moved beyond the level of catastrophe. The Rapporteur described the recently established Gaza Humanitarian Foundation as “a death trap designed to kill or displace people,” arguing that the facility’s configuration and operation place civilians at heightened risk rather than providing relief. The official called for urgent international intervention to protect Gaza’s population and reassess humanitarian mechanisms now in place.
