Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman Max Muncy will miss roughly six weeks after an MRI confirmed a bone bruise in his left knee but no structural damage, the club said Thursday. The 34-year-old All-Star was hurt the previous night when Chicago White Sox center fielder Michael A. Taylor dove into him while attempting to steal third base in the sixth inning. The Dodgers placed Muncy on the 10-day injured list and recalled outfielder Esteury Ruiz from Triple-A Oklahoma City. Manager Dave Roberts said Miguel Rojas, Enrique Hernández and Tommy Edman are expected to share duties at third base during Muncy’s absence. Before the injury, Muncy was batting .250 with 13 home runs, 55 RBIs and an .832 OPS over 81 games, helping the Dodgers maintain first place in the National League West. "It was amazing hearing that nothing was torn," Muncy said, calling the diagnosis a “best-case scenario” despite the layoff.
