Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh said during Major League Baseball’s All-Star Media Day on 14 July that he will suit up for the United States at the 2026 World Baseball Classic. Raleigh, nicknamed “Big Dumper” and currently leading the majors in home runs, is expected to be the team’s starting catcher when the tournament begins next March. The 27-year-old is the latest high-profile name to commit to the American roster, joining New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge, Pittsburgh Pirates right-hander Paul Skenes and Kansas City Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. Team USA, which lost the 2023 championship game to Japan, is aiming to reclaim the title it last won in 2017.
