Tampa Bay Rays slugger Junior Caminero was elevated to the American League’s starting third-base spot for next week’s All-Star Game in Atlanta after Alex Bregman withdrew. The 22-year-old, who leads AL third basemen with 22 home runs, will be making his first All-Star appearance. Caminero also confirmed he will take part in the Home Run Derby at Truist Park on July 13. He joins a field that currently features Ronald Acuña Jr., Cal Raleigh, James Wood, Byron Buxton and Oneil Cruz, with two slots still to be filled. In a separate roster change, Rays infielder Isaac Paredes was added to the AL squad for a second straight year after Cleveland Guardians star José Ramírez opted out of the midsummer classic.
