JUNIOR CAMINERO IS MOVING ON TO THE @TMOBILE #HRDERBY FINALS 😤
Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Junior Caminero, 22, has been elevated from injury replacement to starting third baseman for the American League in Tuesday’s All-Star Game after Boston’s Alex Bregman and Cleveland’s José Ramírez both withdrew. Caminero is in his first full major-league season and has hit 22 home runs, tied for third-most in the league. The Dominican slugger is also starring in the Home Run Derby. He opened the competition with 21 first-round homers, including a 475-foot blast, the longest of the night, and advanced to the final by edging Minnesota’s Byron Buxton 8–7 in the semifinal. Caminero will face the winner of the Cal Raleigh–Oneil Cruz matchup for the title.
