Disney unveiled “Freakier Friday,” the long-awaited sequel to its 2003 hit “Freaky Friday,” at a world premiere in Los Angeles on 23 July. Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan returned to the red carpet at the El Capitan Theatre, reprising their roles as mother-daughter duo Tess and Anna Coleman. The new film extends the body-swap premise to a four-way exchange that also entangles Anna’s daughter and soon-to-be stepdaughter. First reactions from attending critics called the picture “a true delight” and “an absolute riot,” praising the chemistry between Curtis and Lohan more than two decades after the original. Curtis told reporters she insisted the production remain in Los Angeles, calling the project her “love letter” to the city. The premiere doubled as a mini-“Parent Trap” reunion, with Lohan joined by former co-stars Lisa Ann Walter and Elaine Hendrix. “Freakier Friday,” which features Chad Michael Murray, Mark Harmon and Manny Jacinto, is slated for theatrical release on 8 August.
