Netflix on 9 July unveiled the first full trailer for the second season of its hit series “Wednesday,” confirming that the eight-episode run will be split in two. The first four episodes arrive on 6 August, with the remaining four following on 3 September, replicating the staggered launch strategy the streamer has recently adopted for several high-profile titles. The two-minute preview shows Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) back at Nevermore Academy and tormented by a vision of her roommate Enid Sinclair (Emma Myers) dying—an event she vows to prevent. The footage signals what Ortega and executive producer Tim Burton have promised will be a darker, more horror-driven season, while retaining the show’s deadpan humor and gothic aesthetic. Most of the core cast return, including Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán—now series regulars—as Morticia and Gomez Addams. New faces feature prominently: Steve Buscemi appears as Nevermore’s incoming principal, Billie Piper and Joanna Lumley join the ensemble, and Lady Gaga is set for a mystery role in the second half of the season. Filmed in Ireland after wrapping in December 2024, the sophomore outing follows a record-breaking debut that has logged more than 252 million views since its 2022 launch, according to Netflix.
