Universal Pictures and Blumhouse have unveiled the first trailer for “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2,” the sequel to the 2023 video-game adaptation that earned $291 million worldwide on a $20 million budget. The footage, released on 24 July during San Diego Comic-Con ahead of a Hall H panel, signals a darker tone and introduces the Toy Animatronics alongside familiar characters Freddy, Bonnie, Chica and Foxy. Director Emma Tammi returns, as do stars Josh Hutcherson, Piper Rubio and Matthew Lillard, with newcomers Wayne Knight, Mckenna Grace and Skeet Ulrich joining the cast. The story picks up one year after the events at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, following Abby’s attempt to reconnect with the haunted animatronics and the emergence of deeper secrets about the restaurant’s origins. “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2” is set to open in North American cinemas on 5 December, positioning the horror franchise for another potentially lucrative holiday run.
