Cardi B released her new single “Imaginary Playerz” on Friday, making the track available across major streaming platforms. The song arrives one month before the Grammy-winning rapper’s sophomore album, “Am I the Drama?,” which is scheduled for release on Sept. 19. “Imaginary Playerz” interpolates Jay-Z’s 1997 cut “Imaginary Players,” and Cardi told listeners on X Spaces that she sought and received the Brooklyn mogul’s approval before clearing the sample. “I’m glad that I came hard and he loved it,” she said. The forthcoming 23-track album will also include the previously issued singles “Up,” “WAP” and “Outside,” the latter of which debuted at No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped the Rhythmic Airplay and Rap Airplay charts. Cardi has not indicated whether additional singles will precede the full release.
