Kelly Clarkson has postponed and subsequently canceled her August Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace due to the illness and eventual death of her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock. Blackstock, a talent manager and Clarkson's former husband from 2013 to 2022, had been privately battling cancer for over three years before passing away at age 48 in August 2025. The couple shared two children, and Clarkson has prioritized her family amid this difficult period. Blackstock was also Clarkson's manager from 2017 until their separation in 2020. He spent his final months at his $2.7 million ranch in Montana, where he felt most at home. The news of his illness had been kept private until Clarkson publicly cited it as the reason for postponing her shows. Blackstock's daughter, Savannah Blackstock Lee, announced her second pregnancy just weeks before his death. Additionally, Blackstock maintained close family ties, including with his former stepmother, country singer Reba McEntire, who described him as "like he's my blood." Following Blackstock's passing, Clarkson has shifted her career focus and is expected to return to work in September 2025. The Las Vegas residency cancellation was confirmed by Caesars Palace amid this personal tragedy.
