Machine Gun Kelly released his seventh studio album, “Lost Americana,” on 8 August. Liner notes show actress Megan Fox, his former fiancée, credited as a co-writer on the piano-led ballad “Orpheus,” marking her first songwriting contribution to the singer-rapper’s catalogue. The credit comes less than a year after the couple ended their engagement in November 2024, shortly before Fox gave birth to their daughter, Saga Blade, in March. Lyrics on “Orpheus” echo the Greek myth of undying but ill-fated love and appear to reference the pair’s on-and-off relationship as well as Fox’s 2023 poetry collection, “Pretty Boys Are Poisonous.” In parallel interviews promoting the record, Kelly acknowledged that the breakup inspired several tracks and disclosed a previously unreported rehab stay from late November through December 2024. On the song “Treading Water” he sings, “I broke this home,” pledging to change “for our daughter.” The Cleveland native is staging a three-day “MGK Day” celebration this weekend, including an acoustic show, skateboard events and a community festival, to promote the new album.
