Ringo Starr said he spent two days in April working line-by-line through the script for Sam Mendes’s planned four-part Beatles biopic, requesting changes to scenes that depict his marriage to his first wife, Maureen Starkey Tigrett. The 84-year-old drummer told the New York Times he offered “extensive notes” to ensure the portrayal reflected reality, adding, “We would never do that.” The project, formally titled “The Beatles — A Four Film Cinematic Event,” will comprise separate films told from each band member’s point of view. Barry Keoghan is set to play Starr, with Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson as John Lennon and Joseph Quinn as George Harrison. Screenplays are being written by Jez Butterworth, Peter Straughan and Jack Thorne, while Mendes will direct all four installments. Sony Pictures plans to release the first film in 2027 and complete the series in 2028. Starr said he is now “much more satisfied” with the revised script and supports the production as it moves toward filming.

“[Sam Mendes] had a writer — very good writer, great reputation, and he wrote it great, but it had nothing to do with Maureen and I,” Ringo Starr said of the upcoming Beatles biopics. “That’s not how we were. I’d say, ‘We would never do that.’” https://t.co/H1efyozRy1 https://t.co/i9pkNkmwa9
