Taylor Swift announced her 12th studio album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” at exactly 12:12 a.m. Eastern on Tuesday after a countdown on her website expired and a teaser clip aired from Travis and Jason Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast. In the video, Swift opens a briefcase bearing her initials and displays the album’s vinyl sleeve before telling the brothers, “This is my brand-new album.” While Swift did not specify a release date, her online store began taking pre-orders for vinyl, cassette and CD editions that are promised to ship “before 10/13/25.” A limited “Portofino orange glitter” pressing echoes the orange motif that dominated the marketing rollout. Heavy traffic briefly crashed the site, and billboards in New York and Nashville directed fans to a companion Spotify playlist titled “And baby, that’s show business for you.” “The Life of a Showgirl” is Swift’s first collection of new material since April 2024’s chart-topping “The Tortured Poets Department.” It is also her first release since she announced in May that she had regained ownership of her master recordings, ending a years-long dispute over her catalog. Swift, 35, has won 14 Grammy Awards and her Eras Tour, which concluded in December, set a global box-office record exceeding $2 billion. A full interview and additional details are expected when Swift joins the Kelce brothers on the next episode of “New Heights,” scheduled for Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET. Until then, fans can reserve copies of the album, whose artwork and track list remain under wraps.
