T-Mobile and SpaceX have officially launched the T-Satellite service powered by Starlink on July 23, 2025, providing satellite-based cellular connectivity across the United States. The service covers approximately 500,000 square miles, including remote and traditionally unreachable areas, and supports text messaging (SMS) for both Android and iOS users, with multimedia messaging (MMS) initially available for Android and planned for iPhone later. T-Satellite is included with T-Mobile's "Experience Beyond" plan or available as a standalone subscription for $10 per month, and it is accessible to customers of other carriers such as AT&T and Verizon. The service enables users to send texts even in cellular dead zones without additional equipment. A data-based satellite service is scheduled to launch on October 1, 2025, with support for apps like WhatsApp, X, and AllTrails in areas with no traditional coverage. In response to severe flooding in Texas, SpaceX has deployed Starlink Minis in all first responder vehicles in Kerr County and other affected counties, restoring critical communications where radios and cell towers failed. Additionally, Starlink and T-Mobile have enabled free basic texting via Direct-to-Cell satellites for T-Mobile customers in flood-impacted Texas counties, including Kerr, Kendall, Llano, Travis, and Comal, along with emergency alerts for compatible phones. Starlink is also providing one month of free service to thousands of customers in the flood-affected regions to support relief efforts. Meanwhile, T-Mobile has begun transitioning some customers to its Go5G Plus plans starting August 13, 2025, amid mixed reception.
