T-Mobile is set to launch its satellite texting service, T-Satellite, powered by SpaceX's Starlink satellites, across the United States on July 23, 2025. The service will cover approximately 500,000 square miles, including remote areas without traditional cellular coverage, and will support texting for both Android and iOS devices. Initially, the service will enable basic texting and emergency alerts, including text-to-911 capabilities, with data services and third-party app support, such as WhatsApp, X, and AccuWeather, expected to roll out starting October 1, 2025. More than 1.8 million customers have already registered for the T-Satellite network. The service is priced at $10 per month and will be available to customers of other carriers as well. In response to severe flooding in Texas, SpaceX and T-Mobile have deployed Starlink Minis to all first responder vehicles in Kerr County and other affected counties, restoring critical communications where traditional radios and cell towers failed. Additionally, Starlink is providing one month of free service to thousands of customers in flood-impacted Texas regions. Emergency texting via Starlink satellites is now active in several Texas counties, enabling T-Mobile users to send SMS messages even without cell signal. Separately, Ukraine is preparing to become the first European country to offer Starlink mobile satellite services, with messaging capabilities launching by the end of 2025 and full satellite broadband expected in mid-2026 through the leading telecom operator Kyivstar.
