Colorado head coach Deion Sanders made his first public appearance since April at Big 12 Media Days in Frisco, Texas, saying he is “already back” and focused on football after an undisclosed health issue kept him away from the team for roughly three months. Sanders declined to give specifics, telling reporters, “I’m not here to talk about my health. I’m here to talk about my team,” but added that he is handling his responsibilities and “living lovely.” Colorado opens its season at home against Georgia Tech on Aug. 29. Earlier in the day, Houston coach Willie Fritz outlined his plans for a more competitive second season. Fritz said the Cougars will begin using a new football operations center on July 25 and emphasized increased roster depth, noting he expects to sort out playing time over the first two to three games. He praised transfer quarterback Conner Weigman—formerly of Texas A&M—calling him “a top quarterback in the Big 12” and highlighting that team tracking clocks Weigman at nearly 21 mph. The comments from Sanders and Fritz headlined Day 2 of the conference’s two-day media event, which brought all 16 Big 12 coaches to The Star to preview the 2025 season.
