Musk’s xAI Debuts Grok Imagine on X, Promising Faster Text-to-Video Creation
Elon Musk’s artificial-intelligence company xAI has begun rolling out Grok Imagine, a text-to-video generation tool embedded in the X social-media platform. Users can gain access by updating the X app and joining a waitlist under the “Grok” settings menu, expanding a service that had been restricted to a small test group. Demonstrations shared by early adopters show Grok Imagine turning a written prompt into an image in about three seconds and animating that image into a short, sound-enabled video in roughly 30 seconds. Musk said engineers aim to cut the video-rendering time to 20 seconds and forecast a “radical step-change” when a heavier video model is trained on 110,000 Nvidia GB200 processors later this year. Musk likened the feature to an “AI Vine” and disclosed that X has located the original Vine archive, with plans to restore user access. Dell Technologies founder Michael Dell praised the tool as “crazy good,” and an Android version is in development. The launch advances Musk’s strategy to refashion X into an AI-driven content hub; Reuters has reported that xAI is preparing a funding round that could value the startup at up to $200 billion.
