Los Angeles Chargers running back Najee Harris sustained a superficial eye injury during a fireworks explosion at an Independence Day celebration in Antioch, California, shortly after midnight on July 5, his agent Doug Hendrickson said in a statement released Thursday. Hendrickson added that the 27-year-old is "fully expected to be ready for the upcoming NFL season." Antioch police said the blast, reported at about 12:18 a.m. on Spanos Street, injured multiple attendees. The San Francisco Chronicle, citing police, reported that one person was hospitalized after losing fingers in the incident, which remains under investigation. Harris joined the Chargers in March on a one-year, $5.25 million deal worth up to $9.25 million with incentives after rushing for more than 1,000 yards in each of his four seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Veterans are scheduled to report to training camp later this month, and the team has not indicated any change to Harris’s preseason timetable.
