Choi Min-kyung, a North Korean defector who was forcibly repatriated to North Korea in 2008, has filed a lawsuit against North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. She alleges that during her imprisonment in North Korea, she was sexually assaulted and tortured. Choi plans to pursue both civil and criminal charges against Kim Jong Un, accusing him of crimes against humanity and human rights violations. The case is being brought before the Central District Court in Seoul, South Korea. Choi, now 53 years old, has cited the scars on her body as evidence of the abuse she endured. This legal action marks a rare instance of a defector seeking accountability from the North Korean regime through the South Korean judicial system.
