The Japanese destroyer Teruzuki, a 440-foot warship sunk by U.S. torpedoes during a pivotal World War II battle off the island of Guadalcanal in December 1942, has been discovered on the floor of the Pacific Ocean more than 80 years after it sank. The ship was found by a nonprofit ocean exploration team using remotely operated cameras. Remarkably, the Teruzuki was located still armed with unused depth charges, providing new insights into the vessel's condition since it was lost. The discovery sheds light on a historically significant naval engagement and reveals details that had remained undocumented since the warship's sinking.
