The LA28 Organizing Committee has released key details of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic schedule, confirming cricket’s first appearance at the Games since 1900. Competition will run from 12–29 July 2028 in a purpose-built stadium at the Pomona Fairgrounds, about 50 kilometres east of downtown Los Angeles. Women’s and men’s medal matches are set for 20 and 29 July, respectively. The tournament will use the fast-paced Twenty20 format and feature six men’s and six women’s teams, totalling 180 athletes. Most days will host double-header fixtures, with rest days on 14 and 21 July. Organisers also outlined plans for other new sports. Flag football, backed by the NFL, will stage its Olympic debut at BMO Stadium, with the men’s final on Friday 21 July and the women’s final the following evening. The International Federation of American Football is finalising a two-stage global qualification system and expects host-nation berths for U.S. teams. Tuesday’s timetable update coincided with celebrations marking three years to go before the Games and Los Angeles City Parks’ PlayLA youth programme surpassing one million enrolments. The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, which will share opening-ceremony duties on 14 July 2028, will become the first venue to host events at three separate Olympic Games.
