Brazil’s Alison dos Santos produced a season-best 46.65 seconds to edge American rival Rai Benjamin in the men’s 400-meter hurdles at the Prefontaine Classic, part of the Diamond League circuit. Benjamin crossed in 46.71 seconds, with Nigeria’s Nathaniel Ezekiel third in 47.88. The result reverses the outcome of the pair’s first two meetings this year and strengthens dos Santos’s position ahead of the World Championships later in the season. In the flat 400 meters, Britain’s Matthew Hudson-Smith clocked a season-leading 44.10 seconds to hold off American Chris Bailey, who posted a personal-best 44.15.
