A deadly explosion targeting a government vehicle occurred on July 2, 2025, in the Sadiqabad Phatak area of Khar Tehsil, Bajaur district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistan. The blast killed five people, including an assistant commissioner, a tehsildar, and three to four security personnel, while injuring at least eleven others. The improvised explosive device (IED) was reportedly planted on a motorcycle. Initially, both the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP) claimed responsibility for the attack. However, the TTP later retracted its claim, attributing the initial statement to a media team error and distancing itself from the incident. The ISKP maintained responsibility, stating that the vehicle was targeted using a motorcycle-borne IED. The attack occurred near the border with Afghanistan and has been described as a suspected terrorist incident by local authorities.
